Dr. Cat Jarman is an archaeologist, author and broadcaster based in the United Kingdom. Specializing in bioarchaeology and forensic archaeology, she has become one of the leading voices in communicating the Viking Age to global audiences. Dr. Jarman serves as Co-Director of the University of Bristol’s Eastern Scandinavian Migration Project and is an Honorary Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol’s Department of Anthropology and Archaeology. She is also an Associate at the University of Oslo’s Museum of Cultural History and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London. 

Beyond academia, Dr. Jarman is widely known for her work in television and radio. She co-presents BBC Radio 4’s The Ancestors and has appeared on numerous BBC and Channel 4 history documentaries, including Raiders of the Lost Past with Janina Ramirez and Britain’s Viking Graveyard. Her debut book, River Kings: The Vikings from Scandinavia to the Silk Roads (HarperCollins, 2021), was critically acclaimed for its vivid retelling of how Viking influence spread across Europe and Asia through trade and migration.
