Sinclair McKay is the Sunday-Times bestselling author of several books, including Dresden: The Fire and the Darkness and The Secret Listeners. Two of his titles alone, The Secret Life of Bletchley Park and Bletchley Park Brainteasers, have sold over 400,000 copies combined. His latest title, Meeting Churchill: A Life in 90 Encounters, was published in November 2023 to great critical acclaim.

In addition to code breaking, he has also written about the authors of the Hammer Horror films, the evolution of rambling and the political maneuvers behind the Battle of Britain. The common thread linking all his work is his fascination with social and cultural history. 
 
Mr. McKay is a literary critic for both The Spectator and the Mail on Sunday, and he has served as a judge for the Royal Society of Literature’s Encore Prize to celebrate the achievement of outstanding second novels. He resides in the shadow of Canary Wharf in East London.
