Sandra Smith is the esteemed head of Collection Care at the world-famous British Museum. Prior to taking this post in February of 2019, Sandra was head of Conservation and Technical Services at the Victoria and Albert Museum—the world’s leading museum of art and design—with a focus on the long-term care of its prestigious collections. 

Throughout her illustrious career, Sandra has led the way in the development and advancement of conservation. She was a senior judge of the Nigel Williams Prize, the treasurer of IIC (International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works) and ICON (Institute of Conservation), a trustee of the Gabo Trust, and vice president of IIC. She is also an accredited conservator; Fellow of IIC and the Society of Antiquaries of London; and Honorary Fellow of the City & Guilds of London Art School, awarded in July 2019.
